Aquatic Experience

East coast debut of Aquatic Experience a big hit with hobbyists, consumers and the aquatic brands that bring innovations to delight them

Now in its sixth year, this “must-sea” event brought saltwater and freshwater together for the first time to its new location at the Meadowlands Expo Center in New Jersey

SECAUCUS, NJ — Aquatic Experience wrapped up a highly successful inaugural New Jersey event which took place from October 19 – 21.  World Pet Association (WPA), producers of Aquatic Experience, are proud to announce that the event was extremely well-received.   After such a much-anticipated move to the East coast, New Jersey will once again host Aquatic Experience at the Meadowlands Expo Center October 11-13, 2019.

Now in its sixth year, Aquatic Experience brought together industry experts, manufacturers and hobbyists alike with 114 exhibitors taking over the 60,000 square foot show floor.  Aquatic fans got to see exciting new products and all the latest aquatic trends, interact with amazing creatures of the sea and land and equipment experts and stay up to date with the best and most important manufacturers in the industry.  Among the highlights were the Live Shark Encounter featuring a diver interacting with these amazing animals, and the Jurassic Aquarium Exhibition which included several species of fish that have remained unchanged for over 100 million years.  New Jersey’s own, The Lizard Guys, entertained and educated visitors about various amphibians, reptiles and bugs, giving people a chance to interact with geckos, turtles, pythons and other creatures.

Aquatic education was a major focus as famous industry experts presented seminars covering a wide range of topics for the beginner to the more advanced aquarist.  In addition to seminars with specific topics designed for the Aquatic retailers in attendance, Aquatic Experience presented the 2nd annual Fish Health Management Course providing the basic principles of freshwater and marine fish health, including maintenance protocols, nutrition, disease recognition and treatment and more.  This course offered RACE approved continuing education for Veterinarians, Vet Techs and Vet Students.  Younger fans got hands on with different aquatic animals at the touch tank, participated in a Kids Aquarium Contest, and a Win A Betta! Toss with proceeds benefiting the Pets in the Classroom educational grant program.

“We were thrilled to expand our audience by bringing Aquatic Experience to New Jersey and by the fact that it was so well received in its initial year there,” said WPA President Jacinthe Moreau. “The Northeast, and particularly the New York City area, is such a vibrant market for hobbyists that we felt it was an important step for us to bring this event there and to leverage that interest to support the growing aquatic industry by engaging existing fans and hopefully creating new ones too.”

Several competitions were held in which winners took home in prize money; An Aquascaping Live! Contest, The 3rd International Shrimp Contest and the American Chiclid Association Fish Competition.  A complete list of winners is available at www.aquaticexperience.org/aquatic-competition-winners.

Exhibitors donated to a raffle wherein which proceeds were donated to The Coral Restoration Foundation, PIJAC Marine Ornamental Defense Fund and Pets in the Classroom.

World Pet Association Board Member, Barry Berman, was recognized for his commitment to the pet industry with a donation made in his name by David Lass of Nexpet Retailer Co-op.
